Raspberry Smoothie Bowl

This Raspberry Smoothie Bowl is made with raspberry yogurt and frozen berries. It is bright, fresh, and topped with fresh fruit, crunchy granola, and a drizzle of honey. Topping the smoothie bowl with granola provides extra protein, for an extra filling crunch.

With nothing other than yogurt and frozen berries, it is a great way to start the day, especially knowing that you’ve had a good-for-you breakfast. It helps me feel lighter with more energy in the morning, avoiding all the added sugar that often comes in cereal or other packaged, pre-made breakfasts.

When I am craving something other than yogurt and Maple Pecan Granola (my go-to weekday breakfast), I’ll switch it up with a giant raspberry smoothie bowl with tons of fresh fruit on top. It takes only a few minutes to put together and it's doable on a weekday morning. This raspberry smoothie bowl tastes like dessert, sweet and tart from all the berries. It feels like a special treat on a vacation somewhere warm.

But the thing is, it’s so simple and made with all whole ingredients. It can be enjoyed on just a regular day, making the day feel extra special (especially if you have a few minutes to yourself and a nice sunny window to sit next near).

Where to Buy Raspberry Yogurt

I prefer Trader Joe’s raspberry yogurt. I am pretty picky about yogurt, and this one (along with the Trader Joe’s vanilla) is my favorite. But of course, choose whatever raspberry yogurt that you know you already like.

Frozen Berries

This recipe calls for 1 cup each of frozen strawberries and frozen raspberries. I buy frozen berries at Trader Joe’s. Frozen berries are typically very high quality, and because they are frozen, you get that nice crunchy cool texture that you could only otherwise get by adding crushed ice. However, since you’re using frozen berries, you don’t need the ice, which, when it warms up would dilute your smoothie.

The combination of the frozen berries and the yogurt yields a creamy, cool smoothie with the best texture. I also use frozen berries to make this Chia Seed Pudding with Homemade Raspberry Jam.

Smoothie Bowl Servings

This makes enough for 2 large servings or 4 smaller servings. When I make this, it is enough for me to have a large serving and for the kids to each have an appropriate child-sized serving. If making it just for yourself, use one 5.3oz cup of yogurt and ½ cup each of frozen raspberries and strawberries.

Granola: Homemade vs. Store Bought

I make Maple Pecan Granola every 1-2 weeks, and recently we've added this Snacking Granola into our rotation. We eat this granola almost every weekday, and it keeps us full all morning and helps us to feel lighter and full of energy throughout the day. I really notice the difference if I have granola with a raspberry smoothie bowl or yogurt vs. store-bought cereal or granola. All the sugar from store-bought cereal makes me feel sluggish.

You can certainly buy store-bought granola to make life easier, but pay close attention to the ingredient labels. What is in it? How much sugar is in there?

I also notice a huge difference between eating store-bought granola with added protein vs. eating homemade granola with the protein that comes from the oats, pumpkin seeds, and nuts. When eating store-bought granola with added protein, I definitely feel very full right away, but it leaves me with this feeling of being "fake full". I much prefer protein from whole ingredients. It's more satisfying and longer lasting. But, realistically, it's not always in the cards to be making your own granola every week. Our schedules get too full for that at times. When time allows, look around in the different grocery stores for the best (most whole ingredients, least additives) granola to add to your breakfast.

  • Raspberry Yogurt: Choose any kind that you like. You can half the recipe and use one individual portion of raspberry yogurt, or double it for a large portion that you can split between 2 or 3 people.
  • Frozen Raspberries and Strawberries: Adds texture and an extra berry punch.
  • Banana: Sliced and layered on top.
  • Fresh Berries: Use any combination that you like, such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries.
  • Granola: Try this Maple Pecan Granola.
  • Honey: Drizzle for a little extra sweetness, optional.

📝 How to Make a Raspberry Smoothie Bowl

Below are the two easy step-by-step instructions and photos for making a Raspberry Smoothie Bowl.

Step 1. Add Smoothie Ingredients to a Blender: Add the raspberry yogurt, frozen raspberries, and frozen strawberries to a blender. Blend until smooth.

Tip: If you have an older, less efficient blender you can warm the frozen berries in the microwave for 1 minute at 10% power. This helps to avoid getting icy chunks of berries in your bowl if your blender does not have the power to blend it completely smooth.

Step 2. Toppings: Add the smoothie to a bowl and top with a sliced banana and fresh berries such as blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Sprinkle with granola and drizzle with a small amount of honey.
