As soon as you hop off the airport bus you can pretty much smell the beauty of San Sebastian. It doesn’t hurt that it drops you off right in the center of town where you are surrounded by beautiful gardens and cute cafés.
Keep an eye out for the Basque writing on the street signs. The origins of the language are unknown and as you may be able to tell it doesn’t resemble Spanish. Here is a first glimpse of San Sebastian.
Our first order of business was to hike the short trail to the top of Mont Urgull. This hill sits on the eastern edge of the bay of La Concha. Though the hike was short, we really enjoyed being surrounded by greenery. It was a nice change of pace from city living.
The views at the top are spectacular, and the beach down at the bottom isn’t half bad either.
We wrapped up the short weekend trip with a little more pintxo tasting, window shopping, and garden relaxing.
