Okay, here we go, diving back into the enigmatic maze that is the Grácia Festival in Barcelona. If you saw some of the photos from yesterday, then you know you’re in for a treat. Lets start with the Amazon themed street, decked out in rainforest hues.
The theme was complete with rainclouds, tropical birds, and a rope bridge that spanned the width of the street. There was even a two-story waterfall.
You can spend an entire day wandering through the streets, gazing upwards, and grabbing little bites to eat while sitting under the various brightly colored canopies.
Below you can see elements from the Indian themed street.
The next two themes used simplicity to their advantage. These two were decorated with elements from the home, garden, and night sky.
As the evening wore on, the skies darkened, adding an element of mystery and elegance to each of the ensuing themes.
Did you catch the use of bubble wrap in that last one? Its ingenious.
Our next theme takes us to Japan, where the neighborhood artists created hundreds and hundreds of paper cranes and stunning cherry blossoms (also made out of paper… they’re not too worried about rain here in Barcelona), draping them throughout the quaint neighborhood square.
And, finally, I will leave you here, at the nautical themed street that features a life sized sailboat accompanied by a sea of seahorses (I couldn’t resist!).
If you’re in the neighborhood, come check it out: La Festa Grácia! Otherwise, be sure to keep it in mind if you’re ever planning a trip to Spain.
