This Baked Cherry Tomatoes, Feta, and Sausage with Pasta dish is hearty, healthy, has very little prep, and is great for an easy and hands off weeknight dinner.
The cherry tomatoes break down in the oven and turn into a delicious and light tomato sauce while the feta caramelizes under the broiler. It's all tossed together with green beans, sausage, fresh basil, and garlic. It's great on its own, but also delicious with pasta or even over brown rice.

This dish is inspired by the viral Baked Feta Pasta dish that was going around the internet a few years ago.
I added in sausages and green beans for a fuller and more well-rounded meal, and I cut the feta into cubes and tossed it on top of the dish. This allows the feta to partly break down in the sauce, but also partly stay whole and caramelize, each piece ultra satisfying to bite into.

🛒 Ingredients
Below are the ingredients needed to make this Baked Cherry Tomatoes, Feta, and Sausage dish.

- Olive Oil: I recommend using extra virgin olive oil. I typically use a Spanish extra virgin olive oil from Trader Joe’s or Costco.
- Sausages: I use precooked sausages cut into slices and pan fried until browned, but you could also use uncooked sausage and remove it from the casings and chop it up in the pan. I make this with chicken sausage or pork sausage. Both are great.
- Garlic: Use two large cloves or three medium cloves of garlic, minced.
- Cherry Tomatoes: I’ve been making this with cherry tomatoes from our farm share, but another great place to find flavorful cherry tomatoes year round is Costco. Look for the Hiiro brand. If you have lots of extra cherry tomatoes, you can use them to make this Homemade Cherry Tomato Sauce with Pasta.
- Salt: Everyone’s salt preferences vary. Feel free to add more or less salt according to your taste preference.
- Basil: Use fresh basil if possible, or ½ teaspoon dried basil if you cannot find fresh basil. You can also omit the basil altogether if needed.
- Green Beans: I like to cut them in half to make the green beans more bite-sized and manageable. Choose thicker green beans if possible.
- Feta: Be sure to use a block of feta, rather than crumbled feta.
- Pasta: This dish is great over pasta (anything along the lines of rigatoni, penne, or fusilli), but it’s also really good with brown rice or pearl barley.

📝 How to Make Baked Cherry Tomatoes, Feta, and Sausage with Pasta
Below are the step-by-step instructions for how to make this Baked Cherry Tomatoes, Feta, and Sausage with Pasta dish.
Note: The recipe card with instructions, ingredient list, and quantities is included further below these step-by-step photos.

Prep: Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Step 1. Cook the Sausage: Bring a large oven-safe sauté pan to just under medium heat. Add the olive oil and the sausages, and cook until browned on both sides, about 10 minutes.
Reduce the heat to medium-low, add more olive oil if needed, and add the garlic, stirring occasionally for 1 minute.
Step 2. Add the Cherry Tomatoes: Add the cherry tomatoes, salt, and basil, and toss. Allow to warm through for 2-3 minutes, keeping an eye on the garlic to ensure that it does not burn.

Step 3. Add the Green Beans and Feta: Add the green beans and toss to combine. Add the cubed feta, nestling it in among the tomatoes, but keeping the cubes of feta towards the top, which will help them to brown in the oven.
Step 4. Bake: Place the oven-safe pan in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. Switch the oven to broil and bake for another 2-3 minutes until the feta and some of the tomatoes start to lightly brown. Watch carefully to ensure it does not burn.

🥄 Cooking With Kids
I love to make this dish with my kids because they can get involved with so many parts of the process. They peel the garlic, wash the tomatoes and green beans, and even use kids’ knives to trim and cut the green beans. After I sauté the sausages, I’ll let the pan cool, then have the kids toss in the tomatoes, green beans, and feta along with the garlic and basil. Then I’ll put the whole pan in the oven.
With the kids, I skip the step of sautéing the garlic and warming the tomatoes through on the stove so that they can get involved in putting the ingredients in the pan without being near a hot pan or the hot stove. My kids love to feel that they’ve had an integral hand in making dinner.

Baked Cherry Tomatoes, Feta, and Sausage
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil plus more as needed
- ¾ lb precooked chicken or pork sausage, sliced
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2½ lbs cherry tomatoes
- ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh minced basil
- ½ lbs green beans, trimmed and halved
- 8 oz block of feta (not crumbled feta)
- 1 lb pasta for serving (or use rice or pearl barley)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Bring a large oven-safe sauté pan to just under medium heat. Add the olive oil and sliced sausages and cook until lightly browned on both sides, about 10 minutes.
- Reduce the temperature to medium-low. Add the garlic, stirring occasionally for 1 minute, adding extra olive oil if needed.
- Add the cherry tomatoes, salt, and fresh basil and toss to coat and warm through. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Keep an eye on the garlic to ensure that it does not burn.
- Add the green beans and toss with the tomatoes and sausage. Add the cubed feta. You want the feta to be interspersed throughout the dish so that it softens and cooks in the sauce that will form from the cherry tomatoes cooking down, but also visible towards the top so that when you broil the dish, it browns nicely.
- Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes. Switch to broil and bake for another 2-3 minutes until the feta and some of the tomatoes brown, but do not burn. Keep a close eye on it.
- Serve over pasta. This also goes well over brown rice or barley if you want an alternative to pasta.
Notes
- Sausages: I use precooked sausage cut into slices and pan fried until browned, but you could also use uncooked sausage and remove it from the casings and chop it up in the pan. I go back and forth, making this with chicken sausage or pork sausage. Both are great.
- Cherry Tomatoes: A great place to find flavorful cherry tomatoes year round is Costco. Look for the Hiiro brand. Or use tomatoes from the farmers' market, farm share, or garden.
- Salt: Everyone’s salt preferences vary. Feel free to add more or less salt according to your taste preference.
- Basil: Use fresh basil if possible, or ½ teaspoon dried basil if you cannot find fresh basil. You can also omit the basil altogether if needed.
- Feta: Be sure to use a block of feta, rather than crumbled feta.
